Avalon Lakes is a gated community around the corner from Avalon Park, with both traditional single-family homes and townhomes. There are 8 large ponds in the community with approximately 180 waterfront homes. The traditional single-family homes range in size from 1,382 sq. ft. to 3,846 sq. ft. of living space.

The neighborhood was built in phases beginning in 2003 and was completed in 2006 and is just minutes from UCF, Waterford Lakes, and the 408 East-West Expressway to Downtown Orlando. A-rated schools in the surrounding community include Timber Lakes Elementary, Timber Springs Middle, and Timber Creek High. Ladybird Academy Daycare is 0.6 miles from the community for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
